Bandwidth for that site isn't even really expensive, but they actually stated that they shut down the site because they didn't care about the fans.

I was hella pissed when I first found out.
That site was like, a symbol of truth. It represented everything to do with the internet; it practically *was* the internet.
It's hard to believe that it's gone, I mean, days when I just hated the world ED always made me laugh.
It's hard to put into words, really what ED was, but I can say that I for one will miss it a lot, and personally I don't think any copy-site will ever be the same.
